New Executive Director
Wondermore is pleased to announce that Rebecca Lindy Coll has been named its new Executive Director. With more than 15 years of experience in non-profit leadership, both here and abroad, Rebecca brings with her program management skills she learned while working at The Wharton School in Philadelphia, fundraising acumen from her years as trustee and board chair of Vermont Commons School in South Burlington, VT, and communications skills from her early years as a graphic designer in Washington, DC.
"We are grateful that Wondermore's new Executive Director comes from within; we've appreciated her passion for our mission, her deep knowledge of non-profit governance, and her creative approach to our work while she served as Assistant Director," Andrea Mintz, Wondermore's board chair, said. "We know Rebecca to be strategic and proactive and we are confident Wondermore's programs will continue to be successful under her leadership."
Outgoing Executive Director Jennifer Cusack leaves Wondermore to pursue further adventures in literature! She has had a tremendous impact on Wondermore and as Andrea notes "when Jen first joined Wondermore [formerly known as The Foundation for Children's Books] the main focus of the organization was professional development for teachers and librarians. The organization only did two author visits each year. Over time, Jen did a remarkable job changing the focus of the organization's work to the author visit program." This year alone, Wondermore had 14 visits to nine different schools. Serving 960 students in the past few years, Wondermore has brought about 35 authors to approximately 30 different Boston Public Schools.
